BLM Corral in Ridgecrest CA will be repeating their Valentine Adoption Day this year. We discovered our Chester (Valentine Gesture) at this event 2 years ago (WOW how time flies!)
This means..
They will be open on a SATURDAY, (and usually offer free delivery within 150 miles.)
They normally have some halter brole mustangs and at recent events have had a saddle started one to auction off at the start of the day.
Training demos run throughout the day.
AND you can meet C.J, Dennis, Dave and some nice volunteers. I am not sure if Kate will be there yet. She is the mod of the Southern Calif Mustang Yahoo Group and often goes to help out. Beth likes to sign folks in at the gate. Barb REALLY wants to go so I may be there as well!

They don't offer any previews of their horses on the web, huh? Never been to the Ridgecrest corral... Probably because I wouldn't come home empty handed!

I have gone and come home empty handed.
We went to an Adoption and I went back the next day to adopt Symphony We went to an adoption day, looking and adopted Chester..
We went to another Adoption day after we had Chester (and had Cordie as a foster) came home alone.
We went with Ali (millera) when she picked out Kenya.
Last summer we stopped by and they were not in the office; They were clearing pens to get ready for new captures.. (good because there was a VERY friendly 6 y/o buckskin fatt butt mare I had a hard time driving away from!)
I called up there a few weeks ago and CJ is back part time!!! She is limited on the number of hours she can do for now, but is a great asset to the corral.
They don't do much with the website but work with the younger horses as much as they can. They even have a volunteer program where you can take home a horse, halter train it and return it to an adoption. They auction off the handled horses at the beginning of each adoption. (I always wonder if Chester was one of those that got some gentling from a volunteer.. he didn't lead but he was VERY friendly.
One thing I was happy to learn is that Ridgecrest does not adopt out stallions. They geld all colts before adoption except I would assume for the very young ones adopted with their moms.
