I was forwarded this email. TIME IS SHORT! If anyone can help, please do it now!
THE DEADLINE TO ADOPT A PREGNANT MARE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO FEBRUARY 18, 2007 AT 6 PM, CALIFORNIA TIME. WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO EXTEND THE DEADLINE PAST THIS TIME.
Many Thanks to the Appaloosa Horse Club of America, and it’s members. On February 9, 2007 (our co-founder Jennifer Johns’ birthday!) the ApHC let it’s members know about the sad situation for the remaining mares at OK Appaloosa. The ApHC members have been wonderfully supportive, and all but 20 of the pregnant appaloosa mares have found homes.
We have been talking with a donor in Canada who is making a large donation to help reduce the cost of adopting the appaloosa mares. Please check the website. We will be posting reductions on Friday.
If you are able to make a donation, of any size, we will put it towards reducing the cost of shipping the horses to their new homes. You can go to the website and use Paypal, or send a check to the address below. Your donations really make a big difference in getting the horses adopted.
There are also quite a few registered Draft Horses (Percheron & Belgians) needing homes, along with some draft crosses, primarily Thoroughbred/Drafts. This includes pregnant mares and geldings. Many of these horses are trained to drive. There are still a few registered Canadian horses available as well, mostly geldings.
We recently posted 5 weanlings that are in a feedlot. You can see them in the Draft Cross section of the website (Billy, Bobby, Moon, Betty & Andy). Hopefully they will get adopted in time to avoid a terrible end.
To see the horses that need homes please go to our website,
www.theanimalifarm.com Click on the buttons on the right side of the page to view by breed (click on the small thumbnail pictures for information on that horse). The buttons at the bottom of the site sort the Pregnant Mares, Open Mares and Foals, in order of cost. The least costly are usually the most in need of an immediate home.
We have until Sunday, February 18, 2007 to find homes for the last 43 pregnant mares. Most of these mares will end up in an auction in Alberta if they are not adopted.
If you are not able to adopt one of them, please consider making a donation to help reduce the cost. We are putting all donations received in the next three days towards reducing the shipping costs of the pregnant mares. If you cannot adopt, maybe you can help someone else. If everyone that received this email made just a $5.00 donation it would give The Animali Farm enough money to save every horse on our site. It just takes a few minutes to do it, and will make such a huge difference in the lives of these horses, and their adopters!
Please call our office if you are able to adopt a horse. We will be near the phones all weekend trying to find homes for the last 43 pregnant mares, and the rest of the horses!
