???I have a 23-25 year old welsh/morgan mare. She was my leased jumper pony long ago. I found her on craigslist and called the owner told her i wanted her and had her brought to my barn i worked at. When she got to my barn she was skin and bones and heaving to breath... I had a vet come out and do tests xrays and bloodwork. I found out she had Heeves and it had never been treated. We began steroids and other treatments... $2000 later i'm broke and my barn i work my board off at is bankrupt and closing. Then to top things off the vet said that Molly wont make it to the end of the winter with how she is. I'm stuck I cant do anything. If someone wants to take her on and see what they can provide or has any advice.... please i'm desperate... eternity_rider@Yahoo.com you can email me here or on my yahoo... please help me Kristi

I am so sorry to hear about your horse. Does the vet think she can recover with treatment? Is she in a lot of pain or distressed? Thank you for taking her in when you saw her or she could be in a very bad place right now suffering even more.

Mostly sorry because she has you for an owner. You should of repaid SAFE for 1/2 of the cost of the euthanasia of Cadillac, like you PROMISED you would do. Instead you went and got another horse you can not take care of. So here is my advise. Do not get another horse after Molly is gone. YOU do not deserve to have one. Grow up and become a responsible person. If and when that happens, then maybe you could get another horse.

So, Kristi, when you get someone to euth this horse for you, are you going to go get another one? Let me offer you additional advice: If you can't afford to care for it, YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE IT.
Horses are an expensive hobby, and surprise! they get sick! So go get yourself a job, save some money and quit getting horses that you so obviously cannot care for.
I saw those photos of Cadillac, you should be ashamed of yourself. Letting him get to that point before you did anything. Heaves is a manageable sickness, but it does cost money, something you apparently don't have, and knowledge, something else you seriously lack.
You need to STOP acquiring horses. Period.

Okay, There are some things that are not okay to post in public...if you have an issue with Kristi address it via pm or e-mail. If you have a legitimate concern about her care of animals contact the AC. If you feel she shouldn't own a horse then let her know that privately. There is no need to be snarky to her on this board. I know you have concerns and I appreciate them, but this board was not designed to bash people-it is designed for support and education. Thank you

Thank you Well since she was seeking public help AGAIN from a rescue, I did not think there was anything wrong with letting the public know she has done this before. That way the public can make an educated decission based on what she has done already. So while I support the horse she has, she needs to be educated that it is not alright to once again get a horse she can not take care of, then ask a rescue or group of people to once again bail her out of her situation. If you think my comments are too snarky, you may delete them Syndi. But I do not think they are out of line.

I have even posted my email so people can talk to me. I realize and accept taking on molly as a project was a bad idea but i did and i'm doing what i can. On the other hand i am a GREAT horse owner, I already have a horse his name is Leo, he is fat healthy and happy. I realize at this point in my life I should not be trying to help horses in need financially but instead maybe i should volunteer somwhere. But I AM a good horse owner come take a look at my boy some time. anyway if you would like to talk to me email me. thanks
