I found out this morning that Blaze was put down yesterday. She was one of the horses that returned from shipment with Casino. She was gently tended by Deb while she battled to recover. She had a big heart and a strong will to live. Thank you to all of those people who made her last days comfortable and filled with love. Rest in peace sweet Blaze.

She had some colic like episodes, and the vet did a rectal, and found a huge uterine cancer tumor. It was causing her repeated bouts of colic like abdominal pain, and was only relieved by Banamine by the end. There was no treatment available... so she was humanely euthanized in loving hands and went peacefully, knowing love... and in no pain.

This horse, more than any other lately, has affected me deeply. I am shocked and so sad to read that she had to be put down. I have been so hopeful that she would make a full recovery and get to live the good life. She caught my eye the first time she was on the lot and when she shipped I was both angry and sad for days. I cried over this horse when I saw the pictures of her after she was returned to the feedlot. I figure this mare had a will of iron to have survived what she did. She so deserved to be healthy and feeling strong again, and now she's gone. What a tragedy....poor Blaze I am beyond sorry.

She really affected me, too...so sad to hear of her passing, but, at least she isn't in pain anymore.
My thanks go out to all those people who cared for her. They must be hurting, too.
