Saturday, April 4th... You float through each day, forever horses, forever chores. One minute you are scooping poop while listening to 95.3 on your FM dial. Thinking of shrimp. Always thinking of shrimp. And then a friend phones with a disturbing story about a pregnant thoroughbred mare, and the day flip flops. You go from shrimp to pissed off.
The pregnant mare is now with us, and safe. A chat room described her horrific situation, but apparently the dialogue has been pulled. I have dial up. Never been to a chat room. But I hear these things from others. The chat room had it right. The way she was treated. Tied tightly to a tree for days at a time. I could go into specific details of the abuse she suffered, but what would be the point? Like writing a crappy movie starring Jamie Lee Curtis. But this is real life, and my masses all seem to be 11.
This day and age. Jenny Hartman has a blueberry, or blackberry, or whatever that fancy phone is called. Jenny showed me how my website can appear in seconds. Unbelievable. This day and age. Where kindness is making a comeback. Yet you have illegal people coming to America to abuse and kill our animals. How many times can we hear the same tired excuse from Animal Control? It is their culture. Horse crap. This is our land, our nation, and their culture should not be exempt from our laws.
Cock fights, dog fights, mexican rodeos, whatever their culture, this is America. Living creatures are suppose to be protected from torture and abuse.
In the past there have been several e-mails saying they come to America to pick our crops when no one else wants to. Hence, they should be allowed certain freedoms.
That is like saying Charles Manson does a good job with the laundry, so maybe we should let him out of prison.
I only want to tell you the pregnant mare is safe, and she is social with other horses. Final check last night before bed, and she walked right up to me. I am always amazed how horses are so forgiving. Perhaps I should take a lesson or two.
Cold and windy. Maybe shrimp for lunch. This time with garlic and asparagus.
