Tuesday, April 28th... Both June and July have been filled. We are doing a new program called Tbkids. Every other weekend youngsters ages 8 to 14 can visit and learn about thoroughbreds. Only six kids per visit, and a parent must stay by their side. Each session should last about 3 hours. Liability insurance is crazy. Kids will learn about race horses, tattoos, grooming, bathing, feeding, and mending injuries. Each kid can ride a gentle gelding who earned over a million dollars at the race track. There is no charge, and slots are still available for August. My cell is 530-383-2120.
The preggo mare Zoe, who was used for tripping at mexican rodeo, is getting huge. We are on foal watch. Almost bought a new set of non stick frying pans from a nice lady on TV at 2:30 in the morning. Zoe does not have much of bag, and she seems comfortable. But still we have to check on her throughout the night.
I am crazy in love with Johnny Apples, and he is behaving well.
The starving gelding Oscar Award is doing much better, though he still looks terrible. His feet are now in good shape.
The starving mare Aspen is not doing well at all, though we are confident Aspen will rebound.
At the race track Fractious Child suffered a horrific injury, and our biggest obstacle is founder. Child seems happy, and loves his daily walks.
Currently 6 former race horses on daily bute. Tbfriends accepted 10 broken down race horses in the month of April.
Not long ago I wrote about a dressage barn outside of Sacramento needing part time summer help, and more than 70 of you responded. Someone even tried to bribe me with cheesecake. If your barn or ranch needs another employee this summer, give me a call. I can send dozens of applicants your way.
I wrote about a fancy barn not far from Tbfriends, and they wanted someone to take pictures at weekend shows. Jessica earned $400.00 for one weekend. Amazing. I wanted that job so bad. But after seeing pictures I post on my website, the fancy barn told me to stay away.
And now there is another fancy barn in the Sacramento area who also wants photos, mostly of their sales horses. Jessica is suddenly in a new tax bracket. I am left at home taking pictures of a rooster.
The Red Sox have won 11 in a row. Hot coffee is from Peets. A bowl of shredded wheat, with extra sugar. Later we could be 68 degrees. Enjoy your American Idol Tuesday, and be sure to hug your horses. Bryan Adams on the radio...
