Thursday, April 30th... Been wondering why some photos refuse to load. It has been one year since Corey adopted Crowning Moosa (she calls him Moose) and last weekend was his first hunter jumper clinic. Corey sent us a really nice picture, but this website refuses to accept.
A crapshoot. Or do I mean crapshot? Hoping for my pictures to appear. I wanted to show you a picture of Miley Cyrus hugging Oscar Award, but no go.
Only kidding. Just trying to have fun on a cold Thursday morning. Making light of silly chat rooms.
I took at least 15 photos of our new gelding Cut, and finally one picture gave in and posted. Drives me crazy. Searching our cupboards for a Hostess cupcake. I eat when frustrated.
Also I am far behind on replying to your e-mails, but I hope soon to dwindle down those numbers. Thank you for your patience. Difficult to find some inside the house time. Inside the house for e-mails, and the latest rerun of Law and Order.
I was going to do a long, keep your tissue handy story about the girl who loves Cope. Now 13, she continues to help others.
A quick recap. No money, and a shabby apartment with her mom in Vacaville. Last year she saw a picture on my website of the starving gelding Cope. Only 12, and she dove into dumpsters for bottles and cans. At our front gate here she was, handing us cash earned from recycling. Said use her money to buy grain for Cope.
Her clothes old and filthy. Not even enough money for the laundrymat. Yet she gives away her cash to help a hungry horse.
When I told her story, readers of this website quickly brought out their wallets. The girl who loves Cope received over $2,000.00 in clothes and gift cards. She and her mom ate supper at 11 different restaurants, courtesy of your gift cards. They enjoyed a weekend in San Francisco, paid for by a nice man who loves horses. There was even a limo ride in San Francisco. And a horse loving family included the girl on their summer vacation to Disneyland.
Through all the attention and gifts, her only concern was Cope. There was a day Cope almost died, and we were minutes away from calling our vet Lisa to end his life. The girl never left his side. Groomed him while he slept. Told Cope about school, and how kids made fun of her because she was poor. Told him she knows how it feels to be hungry. Please hang in there. Get through these next few hours, and you will be fine.
Cathy and I watched, and we were speechless. Soon Cope stood, and munched on a bucket of grains and minerals. The next day he was stronger. A week later and Cope is playing with Misty.
Today Cope still lives in our mare motel area, and a happier horse you will never meet.
All those clothes given to the girl who loves Cope from our readers. She gave most of them away. Went to a shelter for struggling kids in Sacramento with a truck load. She kept her new i-pod from Mike Baker. And she loves her bracelet engraved with Cope, from Kelly Findley.
Yesterday here she was again. Gave me $150.00 in cash. Said she read on my website the starving mare Aspen is not doing well. The girl has been dumpster diving. Cashing in bottles, cans, and plastic. She would like her money to help Aspen. And then she took Cope for a walk. You should see the way he looks at her. I have the best job in the world.
Chores are forever. They say a big storm for tomorrow. The Carpenters on the oldies station...
