People enter the turbulent, rewarding, and essential (for the animals involved) world of Rescue for many reasons - This is an invitation Folks to describe how rescues you ADMIRE "deal with the cards they are dealt" . . .
I am posting this under the rescue ethics section because I have a strong hunch that how one deals with the "cards they are dealt" is pretty indicative of the ethical structure of the person . . . rescue.

This is the second Cry Me A River post from a pres. of a "horse rescue" I've read in two days. Nobody is held at gunpoint to rescue anything. If it is that bad, get the hell out!  In this case huge numbers of people would cheer I think!  |

I think part of the problem arises when a horse ranch that has been run as a for profit business adds a "rescue" on as a facet of what they do and they don't keep them as two very separate entities. There are a couple of rescues who have done this successfully, but they keep the two entities very separate-right down to pastures, feed, and staffing.
I think when you mix the two the line gets blurred and the fact that "rescuing" is an effort that financially keeps even at best (usually operates at a loss) and definitely is not a money maker. The people that try to do this need to realize that and get over it...
Don't extend yourself financially farther than you are willing to loose IMHO
