Ashlie was born on May 7th. I was beginning to wonder if her Mom, Callie, was having twins since she was SOOO huge. When Ashlie came out, I realized why Callie was so huge! Ashlie has been handled daily since birth. She now is halter broke, leads, picks up her feet, and will let you pet her (or preferably scratch her) anywhere - including belly, flanks, and udders. She has a beautiful baby doll head, and it appears she may already be shedding out to black. If that happens, she will be a Black Beauty look-alike. ;D Ashlie is very smart, and already follows me around at liberty in the pasture and whinnies when I come home from work. It is going to be really hard to part with her, but my goal is to help slaughter bound horses at auction before the killer buyer gets them. So, I need to make some room. I'm sure Ashlie is going to be an amazing partner and friend.....not to mention athlete! (Check out those hindquarters!) I am very happy to announce that Ashlie and Callie, will be going to a new home soon. I have became quite attached to Ashlie though, and I will probably bawl like a baby when they leave. They are both going to a great home though, so that makes me feel much better.
I think my 5 yr old mare is going to miss Ashlie too. Ashlie has become her pesky little sister, following her everywhere, imitating her and trying to be just like her. It is way too cute. ;D

Ashlie and Callie left for their new home today. I got to spend some quality time with Ashlie last night. She was laying down, so I sat beside her and she put her head in my lap and fell asleep. I miss her terribly, but she has a wonderful home. Her new Mom has high hopes for her as a 4-H horse for her son in a few years.
