Callie was rescued from a feedlot in Nov, 2006, and I discovered right afterward that she was pregnant. She spent the winter standing around in front of 1000 lb hay bales eating.....and eating.....and eating. It was a good thing too, because on May 7th, Callie delivered a BIG strapping filly. I created a thread for her filly as well - her name is Ashlie. Callie is a nicely built mare with a quiet and easy to be around disposition. She has been a very good mom to Ashlie, and even though she was protective in the beginning, she was never aggressive in any way. Callie is easy to catch, groom, leads politely, and does great with the farrier. She is current on hoof trims, and as soon as Ashlie is weaned, she will be ready for her new home. My goal has been to be able to go to the auctions and outbid the killer buyers on a few nice horses and re-home them. Over the past winter, I ended up with several horses that were rescued and supposed to go to other people, but the new owners backed out. So, if I can get these horses placed, I will put into motion my plan of going to the auctions. I am very happy to announce that Callie will be going to a new home soon. Her new Mom is also taking Ashlie, so they will continue to stay together awhile longer. ;D
