Assurance has been doing really well. He has been with me almost one year and has been mostly healthy for the last few months. For those of you who don't know Assurance he has been battling dorsal colitis since last May, hes winning the battle. He is still on an all mash diet but he is off all drugs finally. His sypmtons are easiliy handled with just herbs at this point. Here is a link to the thread with information about the disease: synthia1.proboards99.com/index.cgi?board=hhi&action=display&thread=1168069861&page=1Dec. 06 May 06

He's a beauty! What is dorsal colitis? Can you maybe post something about it in the health section, for those of us who have heard it before but really have no clue what it is?
You've done a great job with him, he looks so good!

He looks so great now. It's wonderful how you were able to determine what was wrong with him and help him fight back. After all he has done and all the money he has earned, he certainly deserves to be happy and healthy. Thank you for doing so much for him!

i kind of held my breath when he went galloping on the left hand side by that tree, doesn't look wide enough for a horse , h aha

He looks like he's ready for more races! Does it look like he's going to be able to be ridden again in the future?

I actually do think he will be rideable. Probably light riding only, but we'll see.

Assurance had his blood pulled late last week, we just got the results this morning. His protein and albumin levels are very close to normal. We have been monitoring his blood work since all of this began in May 06, so we are really thrilled to have clinical confirmation that his body is healing internally. I think Assurance can look forward to having a pretty normal life, something none of us, vet included, thought possible just 8 months ago.
